The Eurocontainer Group has been awarded a contract to supply 1,000 specially designed containers<\/strong> for the transport of bitumen for the multinational company Puma Energy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The containers are manufactured at the Group’s production facilities in Zaragoza, Spain, and transported by rail in shipments of 72 units<\/strong> to the ports of Algeciras<\/strong> and C\u00e1diz<\/strong>. There, each container is loaded at the refinery with 30 cubic metres of bitumen<\/strong> before being shipped to various destinations across Africa.<\/p>\n

Transport operations are coordinated by the shipping agency MDT C\u00e1diz Ship & Cargo Agents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These containers have been specifically engineered to withstand the loading of liquid bitumen at high temperatures. After filling, the bitumen is allowed to cool for approximately 24 hours<\/strong> until it solidifies, at which point it can be transported as a non-hazardous cargo<\/strong>, since the only hazard is its temperature while in its liquid state.<\/p>\n

Once at its destination in Africa, the bitumen is reheated using diesel-fired burners until it returns to its liquid state and is ready for use.<\/p>\n

This project also highlights the integration of Multitank<\/strong> into the Eurocontainer Group following the acquisition of the assets of the former Ebrotank<\/strong>. Through this addition, Eurocontainer expanded its product portfolio to include specialised tank containers<\/strong> for the transport of specific products, with the majority of production destined for export to the European Union, as well as Asia, South America and Africa.<\/p>\n
